Rosanna von Sacken

Rosanna von Sacken, President of Advanced Consulting Emergency Management Ltd., has been providing emergency management consulting services since 2001. Prior to establishing her own consulting business, she was the Manager of the Emergency Program for the City of Coquitlam, and previous to that, jointly for five municipalities in British Columbia. Rosanna is also an associate instructor for the Justice Institute of B.C.

 

Rosanna obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, in 1985 and her Master Degree in Geological Sciences from the University of British Columbia in 1991. Her science career included post-graduate studies, teaching assistance, research and consulting work in the geological sciences field at the University of Waterloo, Atomic Energy of Canada, Geological Survey of Canada and UBC between 1985 and 1991. Rosanna recently graduated (2005) in the first graduating class and obtained her certificate in Emergency Management from the Justice Institute of BC.

Rosanna worked for Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) between 1991 and 1995, where she conducted earthquake and terrain vulnerability assessment of B.C.’s coastal First Nations communities. During this time, Rosanna was also actively involved in PWGSC’s emergency planning and preparedness program, developing and delivering staff awareness training internally and to other Federal government departments.

She briefly served as a sessional instructor at Simon Fraser University in 1992. In the years that followed, Rosanna worked at the Municipal government level from 1996 to 2001.

Rosanna has volunteered as the Emergency Social Services Director for the City of Port Coquitlam between 1992 and 1996. She also served on the board of directors for the Emergency Social Services Association of British Columbia (ESSA) between 1992 and 2000.

She also volunteers and facilitates parenting and family education program for Families First – Family Education and Parenting, a local non-profit group that she has been involved with since 1990. She is actively involved in her children’s respective school Parent Advisory Councils and in the Coquitlam School District (43) Parent Advisory Council.
