Karie Hajek is the Volunteer Services Specialist for the volunteer program at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland, Ohio. She has worked in the field of volunteer management since 2007, when she initially began her career working as the Education and Volunteer Manager for a wildlife rehabilitation and bird sanctuary. She also managed and trained volunteers in the sector of animal welfare while working for the Humane Society located in Sarasota, Florida.
Hajek has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a minor in zoology. She is a graduate student with Miami University and completing her coursework with the Project Dragonfly’s Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP), earning a Master of Arts degree in biology. The focus of her studies centers around the topic of Conservation Psychology. Hajek is inspired and motivated to help herself and others to become better advocates for the conservation of wildlife and the natural environment.
