Joanne Kaattari has been the Executive Director of Community Literacy of Ontario (CLO) since 1994. Prior to that, she served as the Executive Director of organizations involved in community economic development and human resource development.
Joanne played a key role in developing and delivering CLO's first online workshop in 1998. She took an active part in the development of Beyond Recruitment, CLO's second online workshop, delivered in Spring 2000.
Joanne is the author of "Tips and Tools for Developing and Delivering an
Online Workshop" and other CLO publications. She has delivered the "Tips and Tools" workshop for the Canadian Conference on Volunteerism, Ontario Network of Employment Skills Training Projects, Ontario Community Support Association and the World Volunteer Conference.
As Executive Director of an active provincial umbrella organization, Joanne has overseen a number of special projects, including "The Economic Value of Volunteers," "Developing Demonstrations for Literacy Learners"and "Literacy Practitioner Training."
Joanne holds a Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) from Laurentian University. She also received a one-year scholarship to study at the University of Helsinki. She has pursued studies towards the National Certificate in Voluntary and Non-Profit Sector Management (Canadian Centre for Philanthropy).
In her private life, Joanne is an active volunteer with a variety of community groups. She enjoys gardening, reading, cross-country skiing and sharing quality time with her family.
