Polly Knox is a Human Resource Consultant with the Ohio-based, regional public accounting firm, SS&G Financial Services, Inc. Her role is to assist SS&G's clients with their recruiting and other HR opportunities, including training, employee handbooks, employee relations, and developing policy and procedure.
Her introduction to Sarbanes-Oxley came through a request from two board members of the Forum for Volunteer Administrators (www.fvaohio.org, serving Northeast Ohio). They asked that she develop and present a talk on how Sarbanes affects volunteers and the nonprofits they work for. The 20-minute presentation was well received and gave many of the member administrators their first look at the "trickle down" effect that Sarbanes-Oxley may have on their selection and retention of volunteers.
