Sheri Wilensky Burke, President of Sheri Wilensky Burke Consulting LLC, has more than 30 years of experience working with national non-profit organizations. Engaging her philosophy that volunteers are the soul of any non-profit, Sheri empowers organizations to develop volunteer-based projects and volunteer leaders, offering consultation and training in volunteer management, board development and special events.
Burke is currently the Associate Director for Everyone Ready®, a volunteer management skill-building program produced by Energize, Inc. designed to provide online learning to all participants in an organizational network.
Prior to developing her own business, Burke was the Director of Volunteer Management & Board Development for the American Lung Association National Headquarters for 12 years, establishing strategic direction for the nationwide organization and providing consultation and training to ensure effective volunteer resources management and strengthen local board development. She has also worked for Volunteers of America’s Greater New York Branch, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s New York City Chapter.
Burke previously served as President of the New York Association for Volunteer Administration (NYAVA), of which she was a founding board member, and served on the board of the Association for Volunteer Administration (AVA).
Burke has provided training for many organizations including the Delaware Arts Summit, National Summit on Volunteer Engagement Leadership, Delaware Association of Volunteer Administrators, CASA, Greater New York Association Directors of Volunteer Services, Carlisle Barracks Army War College, Delaware Valley Association of Volunteer Administrators, New York Association for Volunteer Administration, International Conference on Volunteer Administration, the New York Society for Association Executives, American Lung Association, Canadian Lung Association, and Volunteers of America - Greater New York. She has written several articles for e-Volunteerism, contributed to the Point of Light Foundation’s Volunteer Leadership magazine, and also contributed to the book What We Learned (The Hard Way) about SUPERVISING VOLUNTEERS: An Action Guide for Making Your Job Easier.
